Description
The “gist” is a term used by birdwatchers to describe the ability to be able to recognize a bird given only a quick glimpse. Using blind contours and sumi ink, I create very gestural, essential renderings of birds. I then digitize the drawings and give them color, pushing and pulling them in and out of abstraction.
